ALARMEL VALLI DANCES




Bharathanatyam is an expression of bliss surging in the delightful movements of Alarmel Valli.When she dances,every ‘ragas’, ‘dhatus’,’bhangis’ and ‘mudras’ which in essence becomes creational. It illustrates rhythmically, step by step, the evolution and dissolution of the emotions and design. Minute interpretations of her through improvisations are calculated to contribute different ’rasas’, which are but the varied leaves, flowers and fruits of the same dancing tree. They all glisten with a life of their own ,and dance their irrepressible ways into the vast sky of tradition, individual talent, inheritance and innovation.Her seemingly understated delineation conceals a powerful and inspired inner resource, which gradually unfolds before the viewer. She is a virtuoso performer and sensitive interpreter of the nuances of this form. She enjoys the reputation of being a dancer who has excellent form in nritta and who has sensitive abhinaya.

Chandralekha ,the rebel is always in search of body politics,socio-poltics and politics of aesthetics in performances. (After Chandralekha, there are  a few notable dancers proved potential in carrying this movement forward without mauling or subverting it  like Anita Ratnam, Auroville Anu ,Navtej Singh….) A peculiar intelligence can be seen behind the movements of Malavika Sarukkai and Leela Samson.A dynamic dimension  takes place in the performance of Yamini Krishnamurthi. The above mentioned dancers have given remarkable contributions of their own.But Alarmel Valli's  dance become a written self. A singing self.It is an existence and experience that transcends space and time.It is a synthesis of the noumenon and the phenomenon,and of all contradictions.No doubt,tradition for transition.To Alarmelvalli, it is not a mere transition.Instead,it is a natural, in depth metamorphosis from within. And she dances.
